Who's watching the children?

Working mums and dads, who are anxious about leaving their children in day care, will welcome the new technology at Flowerpots Day Nursery in Hemel Hempstead.

Whilst at their place of work parents can log on to the newly-installed NurseryCam to see how their child is getting on without them.

More and more children are going to nursery at an increasingly younger age, even though according to a recent survey, 50 per cent of British mums would choose to stay at home to look after their children if they could afford to do so.

Now they can get much-need reassurance from NurseryCam.

And good nurseries have nothing to hide with NurseryCam as it gives them the opportunity to showcase their work and extend their open-door policy.

One parent very happy with the new service is Natasha Camilleri, who works in Kings Langley.

"It's tremendous and a brilliant idea," she says. "All you have to do is choose a password and send it back to NurseryCam.

"The user is then cleared with manager Lisa Bright and connected.

"I can look in every room and see what is going on" she explains.

"It is a spy-on-the-wall thing," she admits.

"Children behave so differently when they are with you as a parent.

"My son Tristan Wynne has just started walking and I can see he walks much more at nursery than at home.

"He is encouraged by the other children and I can see how he interacts with other children when I'm not about.

"And my husband John can log on too as two parents can have passwords."

"Anyone in the nursery is able to use the system, and I believe they all do," she adds.
